Launch of inaugural survey for MarTID – the Maritime Training Insights Database
Vessel operators and maritime training centres are continually investing to create best practice and innovative training programs.
However, there is a lack of comprehensive information and knowledge sharing among the maritime community on how the industry approaches, manages, delivers and assesses training. Organisations are generally left to design their training programs in a vacuum.
In response, the Maritime Training Insights Database (MarTID), a new non-commercial initiative, has been created to provide a global picture of industry training practices. Collaboratively founded by the World Maritime University, New Wave Media and Marine Learning Systems, MarTID has launched an annual survey. It will collect anonymised data from current operators and training facilities about current and emerging training techniques, focus areas, tools, resource allocation and more.
The survey, analysis and resulting reports will provide high-level and deep-dive information covering maritime training trends, emerging issues and successes. It is anticipated to become a valuable resource for the maritime industry to benchmark training approaches, and that the insights generated will allow for the improvement of industry training practices, as well as international policy and legislation. MarTID operates on the belief that sharing information benefits the entire industry.
The survey is underway and already there have been responses from across the globe. To further represent as broad a cross-section of the industry as possible, MarTID highly encourages every operator and training facility to participate and add their voice to the global database. Each response will contribute to the enhancement of training practices in the industry
