Survitec secures contract with VARD to equip Ponant cruise vessels with rescue boats and safety equipment

Survitec has been awarded the contract to provide rescue boats and safety equipment for several new Ponant cruise vessels set to be delivered in 2018.

The 10,000 gross ton expedition ships will be designed and constructed by Norwegian-based VARD. Survitec will deliver eight Survitec Zodiac RIBO 600 SOLAS boats, ensuring maximum safety for passengers.

RIBO 600s are equipped with self-righting systems and carry USCG and EC approval certificates. As part of the Survitec package, breathing apparatus and fire extinguishers will also be supplied to each new vessel.

VARD is renowned for its technology and innovation in developing highly advanced vessels with significant customer-specified adaptions. Survitec’s objective is to give customers the very latest in safety technology and cutting-edge equipment.

Ponant and its passengers can rest assured that the final vessels delivered to them will be equipped with best in class rescue boats.

Terje Borkenhagen, VP of Survitec Marine Solutions, said: “Securing this latest contract is further affirmation of the regard with which we are held in Norway and across Scandinavia more widely, as the first port of call for a range of safety solutions. With strong coverage across many ports in the region, we are ideally suited to support the momentum in maritime and continue to strengthen our existing relationships while laying the foundations for new opportunities.

“Companies are waking up to the sheer breadth of safety solutions we provide and are coming to us with initial product enquiries before realising we can provide them with so much more. We are a complete safety solutions provider who continues to invest in innovation and research to ensure we remain at the cutting edge of the market.”
