Port Hosting Workshops to Aid Grant Applicants
Grant workshop at the PortTwo workshops to assist applicants with their submissions for the Port of Long Beach's Community Grants Program will be held this month. The first workshop, on the Community Health Program, will be Wednesday, May 10, at 2 p.m.; the second, on the Air Filtration Program, will be Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m.
Both workshops will be held in the first-floor Board Room at the Port's Interim Administrative Offices, 4801 Airport Plaza Drive, Long Beach, 90815.
The Port has released Requests for Proposals for the Community Health and Air Filtration programs, together providing $3.4 million to fund future projects in the local community. Concept papers for the Community Health RFP are due Tuesday, May 30, at 4 p.m. and applications for the Air Filtration project are due Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 4 p.m.
The solicitations are part of the first round of the Port's $46.4 million Community Grants Program. The funding will be distributed over the next 12 to 15 years and adds to the $18.2 million awarded under a previous grant program, making the total commitment to the community almost $65 million. No other port authority in the country has voluntarily committed as much money to community-based mitigation.
