Downstream Technical Call for Papers

As an ADIPEC Technical Conference, The Downstream Technical Conference’s Call for Papers invites engineers, operators, researchers and technical specialists to contribute to one of the world’s leading peer-reviewed downstream engineering programmes.

As refining, petrochemicals, LNG and supply chains evolve in response to shifting market dynamics, digital transformation and decarbonisation priorities, applied engineering and operational excellence are critical to advancing performance across downstream systems.

By submitting an abstract, experts will share real-world insights, data and case studies with a global audience of industry leaders and technical experts. Each submission is rigorously evaluated by an expert Technical Programme Committee to ensure the highest standards of technical integrity, practical relevance and measurable industry impact.

As global energy demand continues to rise and systems come under increasing pressure from geopolitical disruption, the focus is on delivering energy systems that perform reliably, efficiently and at scale.

The ADIPEC Technical Conferences bring together the global engineering community to exchange expertise, share real-world solutions and advance applied innovation across upstream, downstream and emerging energy systems.

Through two dedicated conferences, ADIPEC addresses the full energy value chain. The Technical Conference, organised by SPE, focuses on applied engineering across upstream and integrated energy systems, advancing operational excellence and scalable solutions. The Downstream Technical Conference explores refining, petrochemicals and industrial systems, with a focus on efficiency, competitiveness and emissions reduction. Together, they are structured around the priorities shaping system performance, strengthening infrastructure resilience and enabling the reliable delivery of energy at scale.

Key focus areas include digital and intelligent operations, asset optimisation, integrated value chains, sustainability and workforce transformation.

The ADIPEC Technical Excellence Awards recognise outstanding technical contributions that demonstrate excellence in research quality, innovation and measurable industry impact.

Delivered through a structured, merit-based evaluation process, the awards highlight the engineering solutions and professionals advancing system performance, resilience and real-world delivery across global energy systems.

The awards recognise excellence in applied engineering and technical delivery; scalable innovations with measurable industry impact; contributions that strengthen capability across the energy value chain; emerging talent shaping the next generation of engineering expertise; and rigorous, peer-reviewed technical work of the highest standard.

Winners will be recognised among the industry’s leading technical innovators, gaining visibility across the global energy community, with awards presented during ADIPEC 2026 as part of the Technical Conferences programme.

Experts are encouraged to submit their abstracts now for a chance to gain global recognition for high-impact technical contributions. ADIPEC also provides an opportunity to demonstrate applied expertise and technical leadership in real-world contexts.

All submissions are evaluated through a structured peer-review process, ensuring high standards technical rigour and meaningful knowledge exchange across the global energy community.
