Located in Bijela, Montenegro, Adriatic 42 is redefining the superyacht refit and maintenance landscape in the Eastern Mediterranean. Since its establishment in 2022, the shipyard has evolved into one of the region’s most advanced and strategically positioned facilities. Now, as 2025 unfolds, the yard is entering a period of accelerated development marked by infrastructure upgrades, sustainability initiatives, and a significant rise in refit demand.
“We have had a remarkable year so far,” says David Margason, Chairman of the Board at Adriatic 42. “We addressed several challenges that had previously constrained our growth and made decisive investments into our future. In the first half of 2025 alone, we’ve matched the total project volume of the entire previous year.”
Strategic development
Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Klaus Borgschulte, working alongside his long-time associate Dirk Malgowski, Adriatic 42 continues to expand its capabilities as a high-performance refit hub.
Recent milestones include the completion of an advanced permanent water treatment system, replacing interim solutions and reinforcing the yard’s environmental management infrastructure.
“As an ISO 14001-certified company, we place environmental responsibility at the center of our operations,” explains Margason. “This €500,000 investment enhances our long-term wastewater treatment capacity and ensures we continue to protect the marine environment as our throughput increases.”
Adriatic 42 maintains one of the cleanest and most sustainable operations in the region. The shipyard has implemented targeted initiatives to reduce emissions, minimize waste, and source cleaner energy. A key future step includes the installation of photovoltaic solar systems across the main warehouse roofs – an initiative that would significantly lower the yard’s carbon footprint.
“We have signed a memorandum of acceptance with the state to install solar panels on the roof of our main offices,” Margason adds. “This is another strategic move toward achieving our goal of operating on renewable energy.”
Expanding technical capability
Adriatic 42’s technical portfolio continues to grow. The yard recently completed the installation of a Zero Speed stabilizer system on a 60-metre vessel, among several other complex projects.
“We are executing increasingly diverse and challenging refit work,” Margason notes. “The number and complexity of projects coming in this year demonstrate a strong increase in customer confidence and market recognition.”
The yard’s commitment to quality and reliability is reflected in the return of major clients, including the iconic sailing yacht Black Pearl.
“Black Pearl has been a significant and rewarding project for us again this year,” Margason says. “Repeat business is the strongest indicator of client satisfaction, and we’re proud that she will be returning once more before the end of the year.”

Adriatic 42 continues to engage proactively with the global superyacht community, participating in key industry events such as the Monaco Yacht Show. These occasions provide valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, explore innovation, and strengthen client relationships.
“Such gatherings are not merely about visibility – they allow us to refine our strategy, align with market trends, and identify future investment directions,” Margason states.
