Uniteam Marine is well-versed in international ship management, having sat at the leading-edge of the industry for more than 40 years. Now, the company is utilising this vast experience to transition into a new era of growth. Managing Director John Hadjiparaskevas discussed the latest news with Imogen Ward.
Just as many people begin a new year with resolutions for personal growth, in 2025 the team behind Uniteam embarked on a transformation of their own: unveiling a fresh look to signal a bold era of growth and expansion for the ship management company.
“The full rebranding of Uniteam officially launched in January 2025,” shared Managing Director John Hadjiparaskevas. “The refreshed identity was carefully designed to honour the company’s legacy, while clearly signalling a forward-looking direction.”
A strategic approach
Established back in 1986 in Limassol, Cyprus, Uniteam has enjoyed decades of success thanks to four key pillars. The first being its dedication to end-to-end ship management, supporting its clients with full, technical and crew management, as well as a dedicated HQSE approach.
“Our HQSE Holistic Management approach; specifically designed to integrate health, quality, safety and environmental requirements into a cohesive framework; is key to our offering,” explained Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “This structured methodology strengthens operational reliability, enhances compliance and ensures we remain aligned with evolving regulatory and stakeholder expectations.”
The company is also proud to work collaboratively with its customers, treating each relationship more like a partnership than a business transaction. This approach has enabled Uniteam to provide customised solutions that are fit-for-purpose and evoke long-lasting mutual trust.
The lasting competitive advantage that Uniteam’s clients often gain as a result of this close collaboration is an added bonus.
“Our global presence has also helped enhance our responsiveness to our clients’ needs,” said Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “With wholly-owned offices in strategic locations, we are structured to respond quickly and efficiently to customer requirements, ensuring operational continuity and local insight across key maritime hubs.
“Finally, our scale allows us to maintain lean, agile and efficient decision-making processes, while retaining a robust resource base capable of delivering at scale. This balance ensures direct accessibility to our clients at all levels of the organisation, excellent response times and decisive, solution-oriented action.”
Caring at a critical time
Uniteam’s devotedness to its clients, and its dedication to the health, safety and wellbeing of its crews, extends out to the wider community too. The company has maintained a deep commitment to its social responsibility over the years, especially within regions linked to its people and operations.
“We actively supported local communities in Myanmar, when they were affected by earthquakes and severe flooding,” shared Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “In doing so, we have contributed to the rebuilding of homes and schools, as well as providing essential food supplies and clean drinking water to those in need. Additionally, we contributed to funding the installation of state-of-the-art desalination and water filtration units to help sustain the wellbeing of families during critical periods.”
The company also supports Myanmar through its non-profit organisation MDA, which oversees the operation of two orphanages. Currently supporting 123 children, these facilities have made a crucial difference in their wellbeing, education and social integration.
“Our facilities in Myanmar already exceed local government standards, and we remain committed to enhancing them further, transforming them into fully integrated support units dedicated to empowering children in need and preparing them for independent and responsible lives,” added Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “This strong community focus complements our environmental initiatives, including sustainability actions linked to carbon footprint reduction and ecosystem protection, reinforcing a holistic and responsible approach to business conduct.”
Introducing a new era
Keen to ensure its branding reflected these commitments and its values, Uniteam made the courageous decision to rebrand in 2025.
The company introduced core changes to its look, including a revitalised visual system and an upgraded logo that better represented the Uniteam brand and created improved cohesion. This strategic move offered several immediate benefits, including increased brand recognition and stronger market differentiation.
“The rebrand also strengthened the way we communicate our service model and client promise across all digital channels,” explained Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “It reinforces our positioning as an international ship management organisation delivering end-to-end support to shipowners and ship managers across multiple jurisdictions, with consistency, clarity and confidence.”
While undergoing this exciting transformation, Uniteam also took the time to assess its corporate values to ensure they still reflected its position in the ever-evolving market. In doing so, Mr Hadjiparaskevas highlighted a five-pronged approach.
Just as before, reliability remains a core component of the company’s day-to-day operations, with consistent performance and dependable partnerships key to that commitment.
“Unity reflects our belief in teamwork across office, vessels and cultures,” continued Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “Integrity underpins every decision we make, fostering transparency and long-term trust, while sustainability drives our commitment to responsible growth and environmental stewardship. Safety remains non-negotiable, guiding every aspect of our operational and technical standards.”
Investing in success
The company’s ongoing evolution has inspired several other changes that are expected to strengthen its position significantly. Having appointed Omiros Angelidis as Deputy Managing Director in 2024, Uniteam has been able to utilise his extensive experience in the oil and gas sector to support a strategic shift into this area of the market.
“We have successfully diversified into the oil and gas sector, expanding our capabilities in VLEC and VLGC vessels, as well as the dual-fuel segment,” revealed Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “In addition, Uniteam has taken a more active role by selectively participating, alongside owners, in newbuild projects, including environmentally-friendly tonnage equipped with wind-assisted propulsion and battery-supported propulsion systems.
“This approach, with true ‘skin in the game’, aligns with the company’s strategic objective to evolve into a fully conscious third-party manager, combining technical excellence with a solid and responsible commitment to sustainable expansion.”
A new ERP solution has also been implemented to enhance Uniteam’s technical capabilities. This development has enabled the company to offer more efficient, transparent and data-driven support to its clients.
“Additionally, we have established a new department, Digital Transformation & Innovation, within the Group,” continued Mr Hadjiparaskevas. “This function is dedicated to driving innovation, leveraging AI and implementing technology-driven solutions to optimise processes, increase efficiency, enhance data utilisation and support cost optimisation across the organisation.”
These developments were made possible thanks to the ongoing support of Uniteam’s dedicated suppliers, workforce and customers. And excitingly, they mark the start of its new era of growth, with the company intending to enhance its services further with even more opportunities.
“We are focused on delivering enhanced quality to existing clients, as we support their organic growth and long-term operational success,” said Mr Hadjiparaskevas, in conclusion. “We also intend to expand our client base across Asia, with particular emphasis on Singapore, China, Taiwan and Korea, to strengthen our presence in key maritime markets.
“At the same time, we hope to broaden our portfolio by providing management services to more sophisticated segments of the shipping industry, while simultaneously investing in education and structured training programmes for our crews. This will ensure they are fully equipped to support the company’s growth and the industry-wide transition to new vessel technologies and alternative fuel systems.”
