Vard Electro signs service agreement with Aker QRILL Company

Vard Electro, a subsidiary of the Fincantieri-owned Vard Group, has entered into a three-year service level agreement (SLA) with Aker QRILL Company, a global leader in sustainable krill harvesting. The contract covers a fleet of four krill harvesting vessels and two cargo vessels, ensuring reliable service and support across their operations.

A central part of the agreement is fleet-wide spare parts coverage, providing timely access to critical components and flexible delivery across operating regions. This framework strengthens uptime and operational planning across the company’s vessels, no matter where they are operating.

The SLA also includes annual preventive maintenance, technical support, and crew training for Antarctic Endurance, a state-of-the-art krill harvesting vessel delivered by VARD in 2019 and equipped with a complete SeaQ package covering bridge, automation, power and communications systems. Operating year-round in the extreme conditions of the Antarctic Ocean, the vessel relies on uninterrupted system performance. Training ensures that crew can perform essential replacements during long deployments, minimizing downtime and safeguarding continuity.

“Operating in the Antarctic Ocean demands both robust technology and dependable service,” said Sindre Skjong, Chief Projects & Operations Officer, Aker Qrill Company. “This agreement with Vard Electro ensures access to the support and spare parts our fleet requires, while Antarctic Endurance receives dedicated maintenance and technical follow-up.”

With scheduled maintenance and guaranteed response times, the SLA provides a structured framework for efficiency and resilience, reducing the risk of unexpected failures.

“A service level agreement is first and foremost a long-term partnership,” said Francisco Lima, VP Retrofit & Service in Vard Electro. “It allows us to work side by side with our customers, building trust and ensuring predictable operations so they can focus on safe and efficient performance.”

“With our global reach and lifecycle approach, Vard Electro is positioned to support a vessel, or an entire fleet, from delivery through daily operations and well into the future,” Lima continued.
